Why Study in Frankfurt
Tina Tokic
From the beginning, I felt taken seriously as a student and welcomed into a small, supportive academic community. The close contact with professors makes studying here feel engaging rather than anonymous.

You will be studying American Studies at one of the best American Studies departments in Germany, and also one of its largest. Our wide-ranging course offerings connect culture and democratic politics, literary and media theory, media studies, and race and gender in American history. Any American Studies department can offer you the basics; in Frankfurt, you have the opportunity to study an exceptional range, and specialize in what interests you most.

The American Studies department is based on Campus Westend, one of Europe’s most beautiful and scenic campuses—a green, self-contained world unto its own, just a short walk from the city center. Goethe University is a highly rated research university that offers students numerous ways of expanding on their disciplinary courses of study.

Frankfurt itself is vibrant international city at the heart of Europe, in the middle of the large Rhein-Main area, with excellent rail and air connections and a superb cultural scene.
